Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures across OB/GYN, abdomen, breast, vascular, and small parts, ensuring image quality and accurate documentation.
- Corroborate clinical history, prepare patients, provide clear instructions, obtain consent for interventional procedures, and operate ultrasound equipment with appropriate transducers.
- Position patients and equipment to optimize visualization; maintain patient comfort and safety; immobilize as needed.
- Evaluate images for technical quality, annotate findings, and assist licensed practitioners with interventional procedures.
- Practice aseptic technique, observe Universal precautions, provide patient education, and maintain patient records with confidentiality.
- Participate in department quality assessment and improvement activities; may supervise students or provide practical instruction.
- May administer contrast media or medications as prescribed, and initiate basic life support if necessary.
- May serve as an Advanced User (in-house training resource) for peers, vendors, and applications staff; assist with equipment evaluation and workflow optimization.
- May be responsible for inventory control and coordinating purchases for the assigned area.
Requirements
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree from a CAHEA-accredited sonography program or equivalent.
- Licenses/ certifications: OBMI and ARDMS registered US Sonographer; Current BLS certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years ultrasound experience.
- Preferred: Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) preferred.
- Travel requirement: If the assignment extends beyond 6 months, CRASE training will be required.
- Physical/Work: Ability to work in a fast-paced indoor healthcare setting; ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand/walk for extended periods, and convey essential information to patients and team members.
