Responsibilities
- Provide intraoperative First Assist support under the surgeon’s direction, including tissue handling, exposure, retracting, suctioning, and maintaining a clear operative field
- Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment; perform counts and document specimen handling as required
- Assist with wound closure, suturing, stapling, hemostasis, and dressing applications per protocol
- Maintain sterile technique and patient safety throughout procedures; position and transfer patients as indicated; anticipate instrument needs and manage equipment turnover
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team and maintain accurate intraoperative documentation as needed
Requirements
- 2+ years CSFA experience (required)
- NBSTSA CSFA or NCCT CSFA certification (interchangeable; required)
- BLS (AHA) certification (required)
- Ortho, General, Endo-Vascular, Urgo, OB experience (preferred)
- Submission requirements: Healthsystem-wide profile standards; references not required
- A skills checklist completed within one year of application for RN specialties is required
